The Urban Assembly Institute for Math and Science and the Children's Aid Society (CAS) have partnered to deliver an exciting and innovative program that integrates the nationally acclaimed Carrera Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program within Opportunity Charter School. The CAS-Carrera program includes (7) fundamental components: Education; Employment; Self-Expression; Lifetime Individual Sports; Family Life and Sexuality Education; Mental Health; and Medical and Dental Care. Our Partnership is currently hiring part -time Math Tutor for the 2012-2013 School Year. As our academic programs continue to grow and expand we are beginning to offer our students choices and opportunities for growth.
Tutor: Academy for Scholarship
Responsibilities and duties
o Assist special education teachers by planning and implementing small group instruction within a classroom setting
o Assist special education teachers in tracking and promoting student growth through data entry and analysis
o Serve as a mentor and tutor to middle and high school students with learning needs and/or Individualized Education Programs.
o Provide in classroom support, after school tutoring, school break tutoring workshops as assigned.
o Meet weekly with academic team to discuss student progress and the need for additional interventions and/or resources
o Experience in Calculus and Trig a plus!
Experience working as a tutor or other youth development practitioner
Experience working with middle and high school aged youth from a diverse population
Ability and desire to serve as a role model and mentor to young people
Experience working with a special needs population preferred, but not required
Working towards completion of a BA preferred
