CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT : Active Top Secret Level Clearance with SCI Access
Provide Level II technical support to install, configure, perform maintenance, troubleshoot system outages and performance issues, and upgrade information systems on UNIX/Solaris 10, SUSE Linux, MS Windows Server 2003/2008 environment and MS Windows 7 desktop operating environments operating system environments--the squadron maintains 31 UNIX servers, 28 Windows servers and 94 desktops
Develop and modify scripts in an administrative language such as PERL or Shell
Coordinate with vendors for vendor provided systems maintenance
Effectively apply DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to ensure required information assurance/TEMPEST policies are applied to all systems devices (servers, desktops, printers, scanners, etc.) prior to connection to the network
Properly start and stop servers, identify and correct system outages and performance issues, perform activities to maintain systems compliance with Information Assurance Vulnerability Assessments (IAVAs), Time Compliance Network Orders (TNCOs) and other security directives, analyze impacts of system software releases, TCNOs, IAVAs, STIGs, Security Readiness Reviews and reconfigure server hardware/software and ensure system security is in place IAW DoD and Defense Intelligence Agency directives and guidelines
Perform network vulnerability scans and analysis utilizing software applications such as the Nessus Sanncer tool by Tenable (DISA’s Assured Compliance Assessment Solution tool), Retina Scans and DISA Gold Disk). Interpret vulnerability findings to determine and implement fix action to resolve and mitigate systems vulnerabilities
Provide training to incoming government systems administrators which may take on the form of conducting “over the shoulder” training sessions of short duration at the request of the government
Document procedures to install software, apply patches, apply STIGs, apply TCNOs/IAVAs, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools
Document procedures/methods to identify and fix system failures and performance issues and provide analysis and recovery to ensure the consistency and integrity of file systems
Maintain familiarization on the squadron’s operating environments (e.g. server configurations, scripts, data flows, system functions, storage, inter-relationships/dependencies between servers, etc.)
Provide technical support and execute general troubleshooting procedures
Install and maintain operating configurations on all servers, desktops, and printers.
Capture system utilization metrics to monitor performance
Attend relevant Government meetings as required in support of analyzing and planning for the Government
Security+ certifications, and a current Information Assurance Technician Level III (IAT III) certification to perform in unclassified Secret and Top Secret enclaves, e.g., CISA, GSE, GCIH or CISSP
