The purpose of the UNM Youth Summer Worker Program is to promote young adult success and learning, and introduce local youths to the University environment. Youth Summer Workers also gain valuable work experience in a flexible and supportive learning environment. Youth Summer Workers 2 (YSW) students performs duties of intermediate complexity requiring some prior knowledge of systems or procedures within a designated functional area. Requests for a Youth Summer Worker 2 are initiated by a UNM "Host Department" under the guidance and mentorship of the Division of Human Resources. Applying for this posting will place you into a generic pool of Youth Summer Worker 2 candidates. "Host Departments" can choose to consider the generic pool of Youth Summer Worker 1 applicants, or they can request a YSW's by name. Youth Summer Workers 2 may be scheduled to work during the defined and approved Summer dates of May 14th - August 16th. Youth Summer Workers must be hired in accordance with UNM employment policy guidelines and applicable Federal/State laws. Students not eligible for this program include: UNM Students High School Students Students who are related to the hiring official or supervisorof the position
High school diploma or GED; currently enrolled in University level credit courses; no previous work experience required.

Additional requirements for this position:
YSW 2 candidates must be able to provide validation that they are currently enrolled or taking college level courses. Candidates for this position must be eligible for employment as verified by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA); those individuals on the OIG/GSA Exclusion Lists will not be considered for hire. Once hired, periodic checks will be made for eligibility of continued employment.
