The Marine and Stationary Sub-Section Manager will lead a team of dedicated professionals in the design of control systems for large, medium-speed reciprocating engines. In this role, you will be responsible for hiring, training, mentoring, career development, balancing work load to meet very dynamic program needs and overall process and productivity improvement efforts.
The Sub-Section Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you, will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. In this role, you will:
Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned program tasks and personnel in the marine and stationary engine engineering group
Provide support council and recommendations to section management
Establish work group goals within framework of section technical and financial objectives
Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs
Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within work group
Communicate with management on technical, organizational, resource, and personnel issues
Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel
Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning
Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching, and counseling
Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within work group
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Ability and willingness to travel, as required

Master’s Degree in Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience in reciprocating engine design and development
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Program or Project Leadership role within an engineering environment
Extensive knowledge of reciprocating engine systems
Experience with automotive, off-road, marine, or stationary engine systems
Experience with marine and stationary applications of reciprocating engines
Effective team building and project management ability
Experience managing an engineering team
Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification (GE Employees only)
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skill
Knowledge of mechanical design and assembly procedures
