Job Description: The Extreme Scale Technology (EST) team within DCSG has started a new project related to the development of runtime systems for exascale machines. As part of this project, we are researching energy efficient ways in which a runtime can manage scheduling and data-movement. Some of the topics we are exploring to achieve this goal include: novel programming models, hardware and software co-design and observation-based adaptation. The intern candidate will pick, in collaboration with the members of the team, a project for him/her to work on during his/her internship that is pertinent to the research topics listed above. The candidate will work closely with the other members of the team to implement and evaluate his/her project.

Qualifications

The candidate must be enrolled in a PhD program at a US University. Experience in C, familiarity with the Linux operating system, basic knowledge of computer architecture are requirements. The ideal candidate will also have experience in parallel programming, low-level system programming (schedulers, memory allocators, etc) and a working knowledge of compilers.
