Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject areas – CNA
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles.
Insures excellence of subject matter and curriculum presented in the classroom within designated subject areas.
Ability to combine Job Corps and NYS DOH requirements.
Responsible for classroom preparation.
Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation.
Assess the needs of students to assist them in obtaining their highest level of functioning.
Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning.
Establishes a high degree of student/ instructor rapport.
Utilizes all possible curriculum recourses available with approval from Program coordinator.
Responsible for the maintenance of student personnel folders with absolute accuracy.
Accurately records daily attendance in CIS.
Assist in the completion of all necessary Job Corps forms.
Responsible for insuring that equipment and supplies are maintained and in good working order.
Responsible for the security of the health occupations areas and equipment.
Accountable for the cleanliness of classroom.
Responsible for reports required by Program Coordinator and Manager such as student/ staff hours, requisitions and monthly student evaluations.
Responsible for providing instruction in home health practices
Assist Manager during scheduled inventories.
Supervise clinical rotations as required.
Assess classroom for needed supplies in collaboration with other instructors.
Prepares student evaluations and serve on evaluation panels.
Participates in student/staff oriented functions.
Attends required staff training sessions.
Reviews health care TARs for compliance and integrity.
Works closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure viable candidates area chosen for work based learning opportunities.
Monitors CTT performance on CTT10 report.
Must be a team player with all other instructors.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
CNA or HHA certification with at least 3 years experience in health care field. Must have the ability to transfer topical knowledge to meet specific learning objectives.
Flexible and the ability to adapt to change easily. Must have valid NYS Driver’s License. Ability to maintain classroom control and accurately and expediently record data
Extensive practical knowledge of trade and teaching experience. Long term or home care with Supervisory experience. LPN License and teaching experience preferable.
In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, candidate must be able to compose/write descriptive reports; use appropriate techniques to implement programmatic activities; verbally direct individuals and groups; remedy
dysfunctional behavior; intervene with students in crisis with aggression control/safe physical management successfully complete mandated training courses.
Knowledge of methods needed to instill appropriate behavior as well as work and study habits in adolescent students; of housekeeping techniques and management; to read, comprehend, interpret, communicate and execute instructions or directives fluently in English. Ability to effectively communicate with students and staff on an individual basis and in a group setting. Thorough knowledge of required subject areas. Must maintain First Aid/ CPR Certification. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
