Garmin is adding one more enthusiastic, creative individual to our in-house Marketing Communications team. Use your marketing talents and in-depth Garmin knowledge to proactively lead the strategy, planning, design and execution of integrated communication plans for internal corporate jobs. Our communications specialists partner with internal clients - Human Resources and other corporate entities – to ensure successful positioning, messaging and promotion of Garmin events, promotions as well as the company newsletter. We are looking for a full time Internal Corporate Communications Specialist at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you’ll develop an in-depth understanding of projects requested by internal clients and partner with Communications team members to establish job priorities, monitor the flow and ensure the completion of advertising/promotion projects. This includes assisting with implementation of advertising & communications strategies, helping create internal product launch communication plans for Garmin associates, and assisting with identifying new opportunities and strategies to optimize internal communication among Garmin facilities world-wide.
You’ll also guide development of Garmin’s internal newsletter, Waypoints, including gathering story ideas, providing story outline to Creative team, and managing through completion and establish content and maintain internal communication monitors throughout Garmin facilities that inform associates of current events, current advertisements/videos, and any other pertinent information.
Other key responsibilities for this role include:
Set up and moderate meetings between internal clients and appropriate Garmin Communications clients when appropriate
Assist with project budgets and track and report costs
Maintain meeting notes and create status reports
Summarize activities upon request
A Bachelors Degree in Advertising, Marketing, Journalism, Communications, and/or Business Administration and a minimum of 1 year advertising account service experience is required for this role.
Qualified candidates must also demonstrate excellent writing and communications skills and proficiency in word processing and database programs. Being proactive, detail oriented and highly organized with an ability to motivate, persuade and positively interact with a wide variety of people plus big picture strategic skills is a must for this role. Candidates must also be able to provide and accept constructive criticism.
