Job Purpose:

The main responsibility of this role includes maintaining and improving the assigned A/R portfolio. Evaluating credit applications and determining credit worthiness. Communicating and developing customer relationships with the goal of collecting outstanding balances owed. Assumes a key role in the deduction management process. Responsible for reviewing incoming customer claims and short payments. After initial research, works to determine and expedite resolution in accordance with established guidelines and controls. Engages in regular communication with internal and external customers. Analyzes customer claim history to identify trends and update processes to minimize claim volume.

Main Duties:

Managing a defined customer portfolio consisting of both CGB and SP accounts involving analysis of customer credit worthiness, credit hold order review/release and collection activity of delinquent accounts.

Compiling information through historical analysis, receiving, and otherwise obtaining credit data from all relevant sources including D&B, updated credit references and financial statements for annual review of existing customer accounts and recommending credit limits, payment terms, and risk category.

Processing new account credit applications; recommending credit limits, risk category and payment terms.

Collecting past due accounts using established methods and procedures while recognizing danger signals through collection efforts and close monitoring.

Analyzing paying habits of customers who are delinquent in payment of bills and recommending/communicating course of action including but not limited to suspension of service (GAB or RCC) to Manager of Credit & Risk when all other efforts have failed.

Recording collection details of customer contact in computer for monitoring and retention.

Responding to, communicating & following up effectively with sales and customer service departments regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.

Processing customer account requests, refunds, and overall inquiries through Excel spreadsheets and analysis.

Resolving client discrepancies and short payments, account adjustments, small balance write off, and customer reconciliations. Researching and resolving "disputed" invoices and charge backs to maintain integrity of accounts receivable asset and improving cash flow through payment.

Through research and direct customer contact, anticipating future potential non-compliant areas and reporting those findings to the appropriate departments for resolution; coordinating preventative procedures with other departments for a reduction in overall claims.

Monthly reporting requirements of Orders on Credit Hold, Balances Over 60 Days and Deductions Outstanding.

Providing customer credit reference information or rating to retail stores, credit agencies, or banks upon written request.

Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary during the year as directed by the Manager of Credit & Risk.


-Prior Credit/Collections/Deduction Management experience a must, preferably in a lead capacity.
-Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four year college preferred and three/five years related experience and/or training in financial statement analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
