TITLE: Pre-Kindergarten Assistant Teacher
SUMMARY: Reports to Pre-Kindergarten Supervisor • Works with Head Teacher and co-Assistant Teacher • Pre-kindergarten Assistant teachers provide an emotionally and educationally supportive environment for children ages three to five years old.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • To work with their teaching team in a professional manner creating lessons and an environment that meet the Early Learning Standards, NAEYC standards and any criteria of funders. • To team with parents, co-teachers, and other staff members to provide to best support for the children in the classroom through sharing information in a professional and confidential manner. • To be open to change, new ideas, and constructive criticism. o Attend workshops o Continue education o Have an working understanding of studies/projects • To take objective observations of children to be used in planning and sharing information with parents. • To use the computer to input observations, create memos, and communicate with others. o Be able to use Teaching Strategies Gold o Create documents using Microsoft Office applications o Use e-mail • To supervise children at all times while they are under the Centers care o To have appropriate, consistent classroom management skills • To be able provide basic first aid.
POSITION SCHEDULE: • Shifts vary depending on needs of the section. The shifts are 7am to 3pm, 8am to 4pm, 9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm. Teams need to be able to work all shifts at some point. • When short staffed, teachers may be asked to work an extra hour to help provide coverage.

Mandatory Job Qualifications
Minimum: 30 college credit hours and 15 hours of Early Childhood Education. Must be willing to complete Associates and 30 hours of Early Childhood • Minimum 2 year experience • To be able to lift a three to five year old child as needed • To be able to go on neighborhood walks and field trips during all seasons.
