We're seeking a Quality Engineer at our headquarters in Olathe, KS. Our Quality Engineers are focused on ensuring that Garmin’s products remain at the top of the quality scale by performing, coordinating, or leading activities to improve quality and reliability of Garmin products, processes, and systems.

As a Garmin Quality Engineer, you’ll lead or contribute to quality improvement initiatives such SPC (Statistical Process Control), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Six Sigma, Black Belt Training, Concurrent Engineering and/or Cost of Quality Analysis. You may also support MRB (Material Review Board) and SRB (Supplier Review Board) procedures and processes, perform regular reviews of customer quality data and communicate with customers on feedback and plans for improvement, team with Design Engineering, Process Engineering, Reliability, Materials/Purchasing, Customer Repair, and Manufacturing in introducing new products into Manufacturing, and champion lessons learned and industry standard practices at design reviews.

Other key responsibilities include championing activities to maximize reliability of both new and existing products and working with Design Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing, Customer Repair, and Process Engineering to identify and implement process and design improvements in order to continuously improve production yield and product quality. You may also perform audits of processes and products to identify improvement opportunities and ensure compliance to requirements and/or create, implement, and deliver training programs as directed to support Quality initiatives.

Qualifications

A Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a substantially similar operations or quality related field from a four year college or university plus 5 years manufacturing/quality work experience in a Quality, Process, or Reliability Engineering role is required. Qualified candidates must also be highly motivated, self direction, detail-oriented, organized, with demonstrated analytical problem solving skills, demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and possess proficient computer skills using MS Office applications. Other requirements include:

Ability to operate effectively within a team environment and work across functional and organizational boundaries

Demonstrated ability to implement quality improvement tools in a team environment

Must possess demonstrated project management skills, including a proven track record and demonstrated ability to effectively drive projects to completion

Candidates with 5+ years in electronics manufacturing environment, experience in approved quality systems (i.e. FAA/aviation, APQP/automotive) and/or experience in Reliability Engineering and failure analysis are desired. ASQ Certified Quality Engineers (CQE) are preferred.
