Parsons Brinckerhoff has an immediate opening for a full time Planner with at least three to five years of experience in transportation/ transit planning, or a related field. The position provides support to the Honolulu High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project. The role will involve complex planning, research, and analysis activities related to a major rail transit project in Honolulu. The successful candidate will support a variety of transportation planning activities that could include preparation of environmental documents, environmental mitigation and monitoring process, multimodal station access planning, transit-oriented development planning, sustainability initiatives, traffic and parking analysis, GIS mapping, and alternatives analysis of future extensions. The candidate should have experience conducting transportation impact analysis for environmental documents that follow the FTA New Starts process. Work will require contact with government agencies, contractors, the public and other PB personnel.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Conduct research, analysis, and planning activities related to rail transit.
Author technical reports, papers, and memos as needed for the project.
Prepare presentations, handouts, and other public information sheets.
Coordinate with other staff performing planning and analysis activities.
Participate in public meetings and address questions related to the project.
Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Requirements: The following qualifications are required:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Planning, Environmental Studies, or related field
Minimum of three to five years experience.
Knowledge of planning principles and practices.
Knowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection
Superior organizational and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with careful attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines
Ability to work independently, without detailed direction, and to handle multiple responsibilities on several tasks simultaneously
Ability to work consistently at a fast pace, under pressure, while adapting to changing priorities.
Strong communication and people skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
