Business Trade Associations represent the majority of SmithBucklin’s client organizations. Our Business Trade professionals provide full-service management to a mix of volunteer-governed trade associations and professional societies operating within the business sectors of manufacturing, wholesale trade, retail trade, distribution, agriculture, education, financial, business to business and consumer services with both local and international chapters. The Business Trade Industry practice helps associations create value for the members through service and thought leadership, networking opportunities and addressing commerce needs, becoming the trusted source for industry information, education and training, advocacy and promotion, and setting industry standards.
Association associates play an integral role in providing excellent customer service to the nonprofit volunteers and members from our client organizations. This role requires strong computer and prioritization skills as well as heavy administrative tasks. Successful candidates will be client service-oriented and excel at teamwork.
Maintain first-rate customer service as the front-line contact to SmithBucklin's association client organizations and association members. Enhance support and service by responding to customer needs in a timely and efficient manner.
Build and sustain strong member relations through attentive detail in handling member requests and volunteer interaction.
Provide administrative and project support to the client and staff team, including database maintenance, batch processing and reporting.
Serve as meeting staff person, assisting client and staff team with all facets of meeting programming.
Provide membership services support by managing the organization's data and generating reports as needed.
Write and produce content for meeting programs and other electronic communications.
Maintain and update areas of the association Web site with current information, benefits, member programs. etc.
Assist with the preparation of conferences, board meetings and seminars
Collaborate with various SmithBucklin service units including Marketing & Communications, Financial Management & Accounting, IT, and Convention and Trade Show Services to provide the best client service possible.
Bachelor's degree from a four year accredited college/university.
1-2 years relevant professional experience.
Practical agency or nonprofit experience a plus.
PC experience with Windows operating system and a variety of software programs.
Demonstrated customer service experience/focus.
Database management experience (iMIS preferred).
Dreamweaver or HTML experience preferred.
Previous experience managing Web site content.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in time management and organizational skills.
