AppleCare is looking for a highly analytical, detail oriented, and motivated individual with a strong background in statistics. This position requires a passion for developing forecast models, statistical SKU-by-SKU forecasting, inventory optimization and data mining. This position will offer an exciting work environment, cross-functional exposure and opportunity to make an impact on customer satisfaction and cost saving by building new processes and solutions for service parts planning.This AppleCare Statistical Forecaster position is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with service parts for AppleCare. This position incorporates business intelligence to create and maintain forecast groups and demand models.

This position is highly cross-functional and requires working relationships with demand planners, supply planners, buyers, commodity managers, vendor forecasters, and other statistical forecasters.Key Responsibilities •Owner of AppleCare monthly forecasting cycle and related activities.•Analyze, develop and apply forecast models to monthly cycles using SAP APO and other analytical tools•Develop global service parts forecasting models.•Track & improve forecast accuracy.•Analyze, data-mine historical data to develop lifecycle curves and/or forecast models.•Analyze impact of seasonality and other business events on demand patterns.•Analyze historical data to identify and fix data integrity issues.•Drive system improvements to improve forecast accuracy.•Participate in projects as the statistical forecasting Subject Matter Expert.•Derive safety stock based on forecast accuracy and target customer service level.•Optimize safety stock levels based on forecast accuracy.•Research, evaluate, implement, and present statistical methods to predict customer demand.•Monitor model performance and make recommendations for adjustments to increase accuracy.•Evaluate and critique the assumptions of all models and refine approaches to account for business constraints.•Perform high quality data analysis and design experiments to identify casual factors influencing under-performing models.•Run sampling, clustering, classification, etc. on large datasets using a variety of analytics software (e.g. SAS).•Recommend KPI for analytics applications, including dashboards and tools for exploratory data visualization.•Build and maintain robust and accurate predictions of customer demand.•Create, enhance, and maintain documentation for data, modeling choices, rationale and results.•Contribute to building the internal knowledge base on best practices in statistics and research methodology.•Conduct periodic research to stay updated on the latest quantitative approaches and forecasting techniques.•Identify areas for continuous improvement and research.
