OVERVIEW

This position is located in the Construction Equipment Repair, Vehicle Maintenance, Logistics Division, Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA. The purpose of this position is to perform preventative maintenance and servicing of heavy equipment within the organizations inventory. KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must be a US Citizen.
Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.
Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical. DUTIES:
  • Repair, overhaul and maintain all types of small industrial grade tools and equipment normally powered by engines of less than 30 horsepower as well as heavy equipment.
  • Lubricate and service chassis, engines and their components to Garrison Mobile Engineer Equipment and Stationary Motorized Machines, and other types of grounds keeping equipment.
  • Operate 5 ton Field Service Trucks equipped with refueling tanks and lubrication equipment.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position has a selective placement factor needed in order to qualify. The actual Selective Placement Factor is the possession of certification to operate a forklift . Failure to possess this factor WILL result in an ineligible rating. Possession of the factor must be verifiable via your resume or copy of license.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision such as:

  • Repair and perform preventative maintenance on small single-cylinder and multiple cylinder engines up to and including tractors, usually not exceeding 30 horsepower.
  • Lubricate and service chassis, engines and their components on Garrison Mobile Engineer Equipment and Stationary Motorized Machines, and other types of grounds keeping equipment.
  • Operate 5 Ton Field Service Trucks equipped with refueling tanks and lubrication equipment.
  • Inspect parts and determine necessary repair or replacement to Heavy Mobile Equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

Heavy lifting is required up to 40 lbs.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Virginia state Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within 6 months of employment.

This is an emergency position. In the event of an emergency, the incumbent can be notified to report for work during non-duty hours and during an emergency situation, may be assigned duties other than those identified in this position.
