The Medical Technologist is responsible for independent performance of a variety of routine, time critical and highly specialized tests and examinations in serology, chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, blood bank and microbiology. Performs calibration, quality control, maintenance and troubleshooting on highly sophisticated and technical diagnostic equipment. Evaluates and verifies results obtained and accurately reports according to established policies. Participates in performance improvement studies and evaluations of new methods and procedures. Follows policies and procedures of West Florida Hospital. Participates in the Quality Improvement process and adheres to WFH standards of behavior.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or closely related field is required. Current Florida Medical Technologist license is required.
Experience: No experience required; hospital lab experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities: Verbal, interpersonal, customer relations, mathematical, analytical, grammar/spelling, multi-tasking skills are required. Basic computer skills are required. Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and be detail-oriented required.
