This temporary position maintains grounds for the county parks system and keeps roads and walking paths clear, using various hand tools and power equipment to mow, water, weed, mulch, place sod, fertilize, spray, rake, trim, and remove debris; plants, prunes, trims, removes weeds from and applies herbicides to trees, shrubs, and flower beds; builds and repairs irrigation systems; cleans restrooms; operates heavy equipment such as backhoes and tractors; performs routine maintenance on tools and equipment; and assists with special events by transporting special equipment, installing signage, directing traffic, and using a tram to transport wedding guests from parking areas to the wedding location.
Education through the 8th grade and experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance/repair that includes the operation of mowers, power equipment, and heavy equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Good driving record.
- NC Driver's License required
- Pesticide Applicator's License preferred
Hours: Weekdays; must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations.
