Primary Function of Position:
The da Vinci Cardiac Specialty Sales
Representative plays a critical role in driving identification and adoption of
mitral valve procedures for the da Vinci Surgical System. Partnering with sales leadership and field
sales, the representative will identify and develop Key Opinion Leaders to
pioneer and expand the use of the da Vinci System with cardiac surgical
procedures. This role is part of a small
team of strategic sales professionals across the country who are focused on providing
service and developing cardiac surgeons to enhance their techniques and
capabilities to drive the future growth of Intuitive Surgical within the
cardiac space.

Roles and Responsibilities

This position has responsibility and authority to:
and maintain highly technical and clinical expertise with the da Vinci Surgical
System platform and procedures to be positioned as an expert in supporting cardiac surgeons and surgical teams specifically

in the area of mitral valve procedures:
and train Key Opinion Leaders (KOL’s) on the safe and effective use of the da
Vinci Surgical System to improve their robotic surgery techniques and

and develop surgical teams through training sessions, helping them understand
system operations, safety, OR integration, clinical applications and to be
effective in pre, intra and postoperative system management

as a dedicated resource to KOL’s and surgical teams, providing guidance and
insight on the use of the da Vinci Surgical System through ongoing case support

Work with KOL’s and surgical teams to integrate the da
Vinci system at existing customer sites
and ensure ongoing commitment to the system

Recommend and initiate preventative and corrective
action with regard to product non-conformances and quality system activities

basic trouble-shooting and service activities on the da Vinci Surgical System
as needed

Partner with local ISI sales team and management to
execute a clinical plan for KOL’s and surgical teams to ensure they are capable
of using the system independently within a reasonable time frame

Identify and convert high potential leads in the cardiac
space by driving training activities

feedback to region and corporate on potential competitive activity, new
procedures in robotic cardiac surgery, and overall, new procedure/product
development opportunities in minimally invasive cardiac surgery

Assist with Sales and Marketing development events and
collateral to promote system awareness and procedure adoption for cardiac

field efforts to achieve quarterly sales goals


Competency Requirements

Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience. In
order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the

individual must:
degree (preferably in science or business)

years’ experience in a clinical sales role, ideally supporting the cardiac
specialty, surgical medical device sales capacity (preferably in cardiac,
pacing) or pharmaceutical sales experience

success in previous employment indicating high level of sales achievement

record of achievement and leadership

ability to work within and build teams

interpersonal skills and persuasive communication skills

to travel up to 60%, dependent upon account distribution
