The Database Administrator is responsible for database administration in a client-server environment including definition, creation, implementation and maintenance of enterprise data models. This position ensures data recovery, integrity and space requirements are met through developing and monitoring policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.
Essential Job Functions:
1.Business Unit SQL server database administration and control.
2.Assist development teams in modeling normalized data systems using best practices.
3.Implement and maintain policies, procedures and standards to ensure security and integrity of test and production data.
4.Participate in the evaluation and recommendation of DBA tools.
5.Assist with performance tuning.
6.Provide proactive monitoring of database systems.
7.Lead complex projects, ensuring adherence to Corporate Technology Project Standard Practices.
8.Perform on-call duties and system implementations and upgrades that may occur after normal business hours and weekends as required to minimize business impact
9.Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1.Solid knowledge of how to implement and administer MS SQL Server.
2.Ability to see the big picture and conceptualize and document creative solutions.
3.Proficiency in the concepts and practices of database normalization techniques.
4.Strong attention to detail.
5.Strong customer focus and ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities in a dynamic, changing environment.
6.Strong time management and organizational skills.
7.Strong project management skills.
Education and Experiences:
1.Bachelor’s degree in Information Science or related field and/or commensurate experience.
2.5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server administration experience (additional experience with Oracle databases a plus).
3.2+ years managing technical projects.
4.Experience in supporting multi-geographical environment.
5.Preferred Certification Microsoft MCDBA.
