Reporting to the Site Transportation Manager, the Site Transportation Planner will primarily work with the planning, execution, and administration of outbound linehaul, RTV freight and the planning of inbound freight. This includes:
The planning, forecasting and execution of all outbound UPS linehaul loads ensuring on-time pick-up and delivery to UPS hubs.
RTV optimization, carrier selection and carrier transactional management in conjunction with the corporate SR. Outbound Planner, inbound operations and site transportation.
Become the site expert and support person for i2 TMS concerning Linehaul and RTV.
Design, generate and distribute site outbound plans involving linehaul and RTV. Collaborate with outbound partners and develop action plans to continuous improvements in cost and service.
Contribute ideas and approaches to support Corporate and Site MBO’s for Transportation and RTV cost containment and service.
Work closely with inbound operations to plan the inbound dock according to staffing and capacity commitments meeting all ADEL and ATS deadlines.
Oversee site carrier compliance for outbound freight, including regular contact with carriers regarding on-time pick-up and delivery, EDI messaging, and data validity.
Participate with site Transportation Manager in monthly carrier and performance meetings.
This position will be authorized to follow the configured QVC lowest-cost solution for RTV as the tariffs are set in i2. The individual is authorized to make discretionary changes to a more-expensive Carrier should Carrier or equipment needs demand it. The individual is expected to provide routing instructions to personnel at the Distribution Center that will mandate the sequence of work, and will guide the overall process for picking, staging, and loading RTV freight. This position is to communicate ongoing or pervasive needs and issues to management as necessary. This individual is to abide by the current guidelines for the routing of Linehaul freight, and will instruct trainees accordingly. The individual is authorized to develop electronic and written training materials, guidelines, and companywide instruction for the use of the transportation system. This person is authorized to communicate and distribute reporting to Carriers, to express opinions and recommend solutions for issues with Carrier management
Qualifications & Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Site RTV optimization, rating, configuration. Execute corporate load plans make revisions and tender the loads to the carriers.
Forecast, develop, and manage all linehaul loads to UPS drop hubs ensuring on-time pick-up and delivery alone with cost constraints and equipment utilization.
Manage and develop all direct reports to support QVC/Transportation specific business objectives. Train operations to streamline the process to deliver an efficient, cost-effective and timely solution.
Work consistently with the site outbound operations team to develop linehaul plans to support actual order volumes in order to maximize cost savings, throughput and efficiency at the DC.
Identify costs associated with rework freight and introduce new and different ideas to control cost while servicing the needs of the DC in a timely matter.
Work closely with the site Transportation Manager and the Manager Core carrier Transportation to develop metrics and reporting for carrier performance
Provide guidance, training and coaching as needed to develop direct reports
Manage payroll, employee’s schedules, interviews, hires, evaluates, terminates and counsels employees in accordance with HR policies and procedures.
Contribute to the creation and regular succinct reporting goals and MB0”s for QVC personnel and departments relating to transportation cost and service.
