The Challenge? Help to meet the ever increasing Global demand for Energy. Our Piping Designer position will offer you an exciting opportunity to help our Clients provide a safe and reliable source of Energy to heat homes, fuel automobiles, and move goods and services in support of millions of people. Each day you will be part of a professional team that provides design services to our Clients on the North Slope and beyond. You should be competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter of the functional area of the assignments. You will plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. You should have a basic understanding of the design process, fabrication, construction and the documentation required throughout the project. You must exhibit strong design, drafting and computer skills.
Our Piping Designer :
Under general direction, performs routine to moderately difficult assignments which require the application of fundamental design techniques in accordance with the company and industry standards and codes
Immediate supervisor provides detailed instructions for assignments requiring more complex design concepts
Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard design techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications on light to medium complexity projects
Prepares clear, accurate and complete P&ID drawings using practical design knowledge
Demonstrate working knowledge of preparing piping plans and sections, and piping isometrics from P&ID's, piping line list, tie-in lists and equipment arrangement drawings
Develops detailed design elements using information from various sources which may include site studies, vendor drawings, catalog data, engineering sketches, reference drawings and input from other disciplines
Conduct field investigations, produce clear field reports with detailed sketches, written and verbal instructions
Participates in field investigations, produces clear field reports with detailed sketches, photos, written and verbal instructions
Participates in design coordination with engineers and other disciplines in the development of complete drawing packages
Provides lower-level design/drafting personnel with design sketches for preparation of finishing design drawings, general layouts and guidance in technical requirements
Check piping construction packages on routine to light complexity projects
Supports field assignments and may participate in walk-downs as needed
Takes an active role in Total Quality Management and Continuous Improvement initiatives

High School Diploma, equivalent (GED), Technical school graduate or Associate Degree in Drafting, Industrial Design or Engineering Technology is required.
Knowledge and experience in basic drafting, CADD terminology and programs
Minimum of 5 years of drafting/design experience
Exercise proficiency in utilizing manual and computer-assisted piping drafting techniques for design applications
Excellent computer skills including practical knowledge of Computer Assisted Drafting/Design (CADD), 3D Piping Design software (Bentley), Outlook, Word, Excel and other related applications
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong working knowledge and application of discipline specific skills, design criteria, codes, standard practices and design theory
Good analytical skills including the ability to recognize and solve design problems
Good leadership and interpersonal skills
Good understanding of engineering work processes and project execution
Able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
Experience attending and participating in departmental and project meetings
Ability to visit project sites
Experience coordinating with other disciplines, designers, and engineers
Willingness to learn or able to mentor less experienced designers or drafters
Able to operate independently with minimal supervision on light to medium piping designs/layouts that may contain complex features
Ability to determine material needs and perform necessary calculations using accepted formulas and references
High School or GED
