Obtains or updates demographic and insurance information from all patients. Obtains copies of insurance cards and current driver’s licenses for files. Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and professional manner.

Registers all new patients into the clinic’s computer system.
Is proficient in the operation of the clinic’s computerized billing and scheduling systems.
Collects co-pays, deductibles and other out-of-pocket payments at time of visit. Issues receipts as necessary.
Optimizes patient flow through the clinic preparing and organizing new patient charts. Notifies medical staff of patient arrivals and places charts in appointment order. Assists in preparing charts for the next day’s appointments, prints schedules and other wise organizes information as needed.
Oversees insurance verification process in addition to patient financial counseling to ensure patients are apprised of financial obligations.
Ensures that insurance verifications are obtained in a timely manner.
Maintains knowledge of current health care and billing practices.
Maintains the clinic’s neat and orderly appearance. Coordinates with environmental services personnel to maintain adequate cleanliness and supply levels in all public areas of the clinic. Able to perform light cleaning when requested.
Displays competence in all Microsoft Office programs and is able to prepare correspondence, memos, forms and other related projects as requested.
Displays ability to operate clinic’s phone, fax, computer and other data systems without negative impact on patients or other staff.
Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality and all applicable privacy laws.
Employee has willingness and ability to perform additional duties in different areas of the clinic on an as-needed basis.
Communicates well with management, co-workers and physicians, reporting problems with equipment, supplies or procedures.
Consistently strives to understand, anticipate and meet the needs, expectations and satisfaction of patients, visitors, co-workers and medical staff.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
2-3 years office experience in a medical setting. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
