Raytheon Technical Service Co. (RTSC) Field Operation is supporting Raytheon Company and the US Navy in the installation and integration of Electronic Systems on the LPD Class of ships at the Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS.
Job Description: RTSC is seeking students for Field Engineering Intern opportunities starting in the Summer Term to work from our Pascagoula, MS Field Operations shipyard location. This position is for students that are currently enrolled full-time working toward a Bachelors degree in an Engineering Program. In this position, you may work on tasks associated with such projects and activities as equipment maintainability studies, the preparation for the deployment of new shipboard systems and equipment, helping in the planning of site installations, preventive maintenance programs and tracking performance and maintenance records on equipment. The ideal candidate should have strong academic credentials and experience in working in a teamwork environment, having not only academic, but also interpersonal skills to help optimize our teams. The single most important attribute is an inquisitive nature and a strong desire to learn real world applications to compliment your academic experience. You should be familiarity with hardware or software tools as appropriate for your academic level.
Required Skills: Must have computer system familiarity and Microsoft Office skills, i.e. Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint. You must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to work in a Customer environment. Proficiancy in Engineering skills, which include the understanding of computers, computing and network systems.
Desired Skills: Candidates should have some experience using tools, test equipment and some software background. Network operation, system monitoring, network protocols such as TCP/IP and some maintenance experience - Familiarity Troubleshooting LAN network Architectures containing Cisco routers and Nortel switches. Familiarity with or experience on naval or other military communication network systems. Prior military experience, Reserves, National Guard or ROTC duty is a plus.
The work will be performed mostly on board a naval vessel under construction and in an industrial environment. Ability to work in this environment would be an advantage.

Required Education (including Major): Candidates need to be enrolled full time in College in an Engineering curriculum. Candidates can be in their Senior, Junior or Sophmore years of school.
