Job Description:
The Director of Design Operations for Cole Haan develops and drives the processes, tools, and design thinking that support the Creative Strategy, Design Language and Creative Vision for Cole Haan. Ensures the process and tools are in place that foster a creative design environment without impediments, enable efficiency, and optimize capacity and creativity. Enables the timely execution of design requirements in order to meet overall business goals. In partnership with the VP Creative Director, leads the development of a highly effective, innovative, and motivated global design culture. Provides logistical direction, counsel, and partnership for the Product Design team leadership, Brand Design Team Leadership, Merchandising, Product Development, Product Innovation and Brand Marketing.

Core Responsibilities:
PROCESS, TECHNOLOGY, & COMMUNICATION LEADERSHIP AND OVERSIGHT
  • Plan and lead the coordination of all Design milestones and calendars within the franchise structure, as well as between multiple design locations (e.g., scope out, plan, and schedule all Design Review meetings, and provide logistical direction and leadership in coordinating these meetings)
  • Ensure benchmarks are followed and met, and apply all checks and balance to ensure process integrity and maximization of Design capability
  • Partner with Design leadership colleagues to identify opportunities for process improvement, and then lead those process re-design initiatives
  • Lead Design function timeline development, management and communication across the entire Design, Merchandising, and Development functions; partner with design leadership to articulate and plan the communication of Design touch point expectations and format
  • Ensure all logistical support is planned and executed in the drive for cross-function synergy between Design, Merchandising, and the overall Cole Haan brand
  • Manage the entire annual Design function budget, via monthly, quarterly, and annual planning and implementation processes and oversight; serve as department lead for all Design function budget management and financial planning
  • Own and monitor the Design function systems requirements and overall team "tool" needs; partner with IT colleagues to ensure best-in-class functionality is in place for Design
STAKEHOLDER PARTNERSHIP
  • Assist in accomplishing seasonal objectives
  • Participate in functional discussions and initiatives across functions (e.g., Seasonal Kick-Off), and provide counsel and partnership as appropriate
  • Lead the development and maximization of internal and external partnerships that enhance Design effectiveness
  • Partner with Design leadership in developing and implementing seasonal workload tracking, project distribution, and special project tracking
  • Execute all Design function consulting agreements and onboarding, and partner as appropriate with HR, Legal and Facilities
PEOPLE
  • Lead team structure development and talent planning, in partnership with the Creative Director and the HR team, to maximize individual and team performance
  • Serve as first touch point for Design recruiting efforts, and assist in the development and implementation of on-boarding programs for new hires
  • Maintain current job descriptions for the Design function
  • Coordinate the relocation process of new hires and current employees, as applicable
  • Partner with Design leadership to plan and implement the mid-year and year-end CFE process
  • Manage and organize daily communication objectives, needs, and plans within the Design, Marketing, and Development teams
  • Lead the annual Design internship program process and seek ways to improve and innovate with each program
