The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Human Dynamics Researcher.


Foster a growing research program in Human Dynamics (e.g., social media analysis, cultural and social modeling, social neuroscience).Lead interdisciplinary research in areas of Human Dynamics, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peer external organizations.Conduct research in one or more areas of Human Dynamics.Help to grow a funded research program in Human Dynamics, support and lead grant proposal efforts. Work with programs across the Laboratory to understand their Human Dynamics challenges. Participate in Laboratory strategic planning for science and technology.


Required: PhD in Computer Science, Cognitive Science, or related field. Experience in research, design and implementation in one or more areas of Human Dynamics (social media analysis, cultural and social modeling, social neuroscience). Record of success in acquiring funding for R&D in this area. Demonstrated thought leader in the Human Dynamics arena as demonstrated through publications. Interest in developing and nurturing a new, interdisciplinary R&D area within a recognized research organization. Desired: Experience in human interaction with complex systems or in machine learning. Systems development experience. Experience in an application area relevant to the Laboratory's mission, for example in command and control or intelligence analysis.


Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
