An employee in this position provides general clerical, operator and services duties for the Department of Safety and Security inside the office, building facilities and/or parking lots. These duties require: working knowledge of College policies and procedures; familiarity with the college property and personnel; walking assignment of college buildings and parking lots as assigned; information giving; and other duties as directed by the Coordinator of Safety and Security. An employee in this position has a high risk for occupational exposure to human blood or other potentially infectious materials as a result of the performance of the employee’s duties.

Reports To
The Coordinator of Safety and Security provides general supervision.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
Assist with in-coming phone calls.

Greeting and assisting visitors to the office needing help.

Light filing, clerical and general office duties.

Provide information on the location of offices and college personnel.

Inspect and report on the working status of all fire fighting and safety equipment.

Attend officer training classes as designated.

Unlock rooms as assigned

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Minimum Education/Experience
Current OCCC student enrolled in 6 or more credit hours during fall or spring semesters and 3 or more hours during summer semesters.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Positive oral and written communication skills.

Positive human relations skills.

Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment with courtesy and firmness.

Ability to work flexible hours.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Ability to be on feet for extended periods of time.

Ability to perform strenuous work and lift weight up to seventy-five (75) pounds and perform strenuous tasks requiring lifting, pushing (including pushing stalled vehicles from parking spaces,) pulling, bending, stooping and climbing. The ability to meet the physical standards required performing the essential functions of the position, as evidenced by the successful completion of a medical physical.

Preferred Qualifications
Valid American Red Cross First Aid and C.P.R. card.
