Provides advanced technical server, database and software information systems support. Monitors the health of, and performs ongoing maintenance and development for systems in use by the Agency. Designs, develops, tests, debugs and supports custom web based and database drive applications. Develops and delivers ongoing hands on hardware and software training to end users. Develops, maintains and delivers reports that detail support activities on a monthly basis. Recommends technology improvements.

DEVELOPMENT: Manages Agency developed or customized web and database applications to ensure systems operate in a secure and highly available environment. Applies architecture, design and development expertise to design and develop effective information systems. Performs business processes analysis to ensure that solutions resolve functional organization challenges and facilitate intended business processes.

HELP DESK: Respond to support requests via the help desk to provide high quality customer service to all public, staff, peer, agency, county and educational customers and contacts that the library serves. Develops, maintains and delivers reports that detail support activities on a monthly basis.

INFRASTRUCTURE: Provide hands on technical support for the installation, administration and maintenance of website and application server systems. Administers, maintains and supports Windows, Linux, Apache, SQL and PHP server environments.

VENDOR RELATIONS: Serves as a contact for engaging or responding to vendor services. Creates internal help desk tracking tickets for vendor involved events, provides escort for vendors as necessary and ensures proper closure, follow up and review of vendor activities.

CONSULTATIVE OUTREACH: Serves as a consultative technical resource for a wide range of consumers. Analyzes and reports on the current situation, designs, develops and presents solutions to resolve business and technical challenges with technology solutions. Develops and Delivers customized hands on training for individuals and groups of technical and non-technical consumers.

REPRESENTATION: Establishes and maintains positive relationships with peers in other state agencies and at the county level. Attends and reports on various committees the agency participates in.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and experience in automated information or communication system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Hands on experience with database and web application development and maintaining required infrastructure elements such as IIS, LAMP preferred.

Strong knowledge of web and database application development technologies such as HTML, CSS, XML, SOAP, Java, ASP and the .Net framework. Strong knowledge of SQL database design and development. Hands on experience with SharePoint and experience preferred. Familiarity with web page design and content management systems development that leverage PHP such as Drupal and Wordpress and experience with Linux and Apache server administration is beneficial.

Additional Comments:

Must be able to work and function as a member of a cohesive team. Works in office environment. Periodic in-state travel. No physical requirements but work requires regular standing, moving and lifting computer hardware.
