Installs, protects, and maintains gas services and mains. Operates and maintains several types of construction equipment to accomplish installation, maintenance and protection of the gas distribution system.
--Performs various tasks associated with installation of gas mains and services to prepare and restore the construction site including maintenance, replacement, corrosion control and leak detection on mains and services in compliance with company standards and procedures, to safely and efficiently deliver natural gas to customers. --Operate construction equipment used in the repair, replacement, and installation of gas mains and services, including the preparation and restoration of the construction site for completion of assigned projects. --Performs routine operator maintenance on construction equipment to assure safe and efficient performance and minimal downtime. --Drives crew truck and other trucks, some with trailer attached, to transport construction equipment and necessary crew materials to job locations. --Assist with other related tasks as apparent or assigned including meter hanging and customer piping tie-in when appropriate to ensure efficient operation of the crew. Requires successful completion of a certification program at an accredited educational institution in natural/propane gas distribution, installation and repair, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent technical skills.
Requires one year#s experience in the installation and repair of services and mains and the requisite knowledge and operating experience of various excavation equipment e.g., trencher, tractor, backhoe.

--Able to meet and maintain performance and attendance criteria for the job. --Able to currently meet the Operator Qualification requirements for this position or become qualified within the timeframe established by the company. --Able to obtain a valid Journeyman Gasfitter#s Certificate of Competency and a CNP P.E. Fusion Qualification Certificate within timeframe established by the company. --Able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of safety procedures, practices, and policies. --Able to solve problems with logical solutions and make sound decisions. --Able to have positive customer relations skills, integrity, creativity, flexibility and cooperative working relations. --Able to possess a valid Minnesota CDL or obtain one in six months, DOT Health Card, and have a safe driving record as determined by the Company. --Able to use a variety of hand tools and power tools including shovel, pipe wrenches, jackhammer, backhoe. --Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company#s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all required training courses and do so timely. --Able to demonstrate respect for all individuals, adhere to the Company#s values and business practices and do both consistently. --Able to meet all physical requirements, competency-based assessments, pre-employment background checks, pre-employment drug screen and other selection criteria determined by the Company.

--Able to work outside in extreme weather conditions. --Able to have access to personal vehicle to drive to worksite. --Able to have medical approval to use a respirator. --Able to work a reasonable amount of overtime. --Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive positions.
