Must exhibit consistent proficiency with English grammar/usage. Displays thorough knowledge of publications design concepts. Demonstrates ability to produce quality documents within compressed schedules. Exhibits expertise with document publishing tools including advanced Microsoft (MS) Word functions, including use of document templates and styles.

Exhibits consistent proficiency with graphics development tools including Visio and demonstrates ability to tailor the structure, contents and function of documents to serve specific informational needs. Demonstrates ability to translate complex business and system concepts for communication to diverse audiences and to perform business process analysis and accurately capture process information for use within documentation products.

Demonstrates ability to perform graphical user interface (GUI) design analysis of client/server and Web-based applications and to perform effective verbal communication with technical personnel and to derive technical design details for technical publications. Has the ability to provide team members with MS Word and Excel problem-solving support.

Demonstrated knowledge of System Development Life-cycle approach. Desired skills Exhibits familiarity with use of HTML and hypertext theory for implementation within end-user documentation products. Ability to develop documentation standards and development procedures when none are present. Ability to design and develop automated documentation tools and templates using VBA, MS Word, and MS Excel. Familiarity with MS .NET Integrated Development Environments (IDEs). Specific Job Description Substantially edits a variety of technical and non-technical documents, including proposals, project documentation, user manuals, government regulations, technical reports and brochures to improve organization; establishes tone for intended audience, ensures consistency from multiple authors; and eliminates redundancy, awkward sentence construction, wordiness and jargon. Copy/edits documents to ensure correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure and usage. Rewrites text of previously prepared manuscripts to rearrange, reword and generally strengthen material for client's review and approval. Works with other writers, editors and team members throughout draft and final publication to produce finished documents and deliverables. Manages projects involving the production and publication of documents: including developing cost estimates, work schedules and project management plans; supervising project team members; monitoring task performance and preparing monthly progress reports for clients. Works with the Training Manager to produce training materials, including handouts and presentations. Maintains contacts with high quality outside editors/writers to permit rapid outsourcing of work overload. Performs all other duties as assigned. Coordinates with programmers and software engineering to verify knowledge of subject in preparation for writing assignment.
