DESCRIPTION

The Carpenter Maintenance Technician II position at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is an integral part of the Engineering Team. This position is responsible for daily and preventative maintenance in regards to all areas of the resort specifically related to areas of carpentry such as window installation, finish carpentry, roof and ceiling construction or repair, concrete form construction, demolition of walls, floors and ceilings for remodel projects.

DUTIES

  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to determine equipment and materials required and methods of installation to complete project.
  • Select specified types of wood and other materials; determine amount necessary to complete project.
  • Prepare project layout using various measuring and marking tools including calipers, rule, framing square, pencil, chalk and marking gauge.
  • Cut and shape construction materials using manual and power tools. Sets up and operates machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, and shapers, to cut and shape woodstock.
  • Assemble materials using a variety of fasteners including nails, staples, dowel pins, glue and screws.
  • Prepare and protect wood and other material surfaces. Dips, brushes, or sprays assembled articles with protective or decorative materials, such as stain, varnish, or lacquer.
  • Perform work in specialized areas such as window installation, finish carpentry, roof and ceiling construction or repair, concrete form construction, demolition of walls, floors and ceilings for remodel projects.
  • Constructs and repairs wooden furniture, e.g., tables, desks, chairs, cabinets, shelves, etc.
  • Installs hardware, such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls, using hand tools.
  • Designs and constructs porches, decks, access ramps, steps, etc.
  • Receives and reviews work orders/requests to determine, estimated cost and man-hour requirements. Requisitions and/or purchases supplies and materials.
  • Performs prescribed maintenance checks as scheduled.
  • Performs numerous other duties related, including but not limited to, installing and repairing door closers, locks, keys, and related devices and hardware; tailoring and installing window shades; repairing tools and equipment (ladders, pike poles, tool handles); and designing and constructing special equipment or facilities to accommodate the handicapped.
  • May be required to respond to 24-hour emergency calls for assigned work area to perform emergency building or equipment repairs during off-duty hours using a vehicle, telephone, hand, power and specialty tools and necessary materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a technical program in one or more trades and a minimum of two years of general building maintenance experience.
  • One year or equivalent experience as a Journey Maintenance Tech II preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend duty. The equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
