The Web Developer – Lead will build, implement, test, and maintain websites for OASIS , ITS , and the campus community using a content management platform. This will include:
•Developing applications, software, and tools to support two multisite WordPress networks.
•Working closely with infrastructure support staff to optimize and tune the service (caching, cron, security settings, etc).
•Establishing standardized code design and development patterns and methodologies.
•Developing, testing, and implementing themes, plugins, and related functionality.
•Continuously strive to improve our development culture, including tools, methodologies, best practices, frameworks/libraries, and release model, etc.
•Providing guidance on security and version updates
•Training and mentoring junior developers, administrators, and website editors.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
The specialist band requires a foundation of knowledge and skills in area of specialization generally obtained from graduating from a four-year college or university with nine semester hours in programming and three years of experience in business application consulting or development. Experience in the field of work related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Special note: This position may exclusively require a bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the specific functions of the job. Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
•PHP experience; must write clean, well formed code.
•Strong HTML , CSS , JavaScript (including frameworks like jQuery).
•Strong familiarity with formal development environment (Dev and Prod servers).
•Cross-browser development and testing.
•Strong familiarity with LAMP stack environment.
•Expert-level WordPress development experience including security-conscious custom theming and plugin authoring.
Preferred Qualifications
•BS in Computer Science or related field.
•Experience with SVN and code repositories.
•Experience working with large multi-site WordPress networks.
•6+ years of PHP experience highly desired.
