Job Posting Summary

Assists the Executive Officer in carrying out the mission of the System Governance Office. Serves as primary web master; maintains the governance web server and oversees the creation and maintenance of the governance web pages. Provides staff support to the Staff Alliance, Faculty Alliance, Coalition of Student Leaders, Statewide Administration Assembly and System Governance Council. Assists the Executive Officer in coordinating governance meetings, events and conferences, including scheduling, site selection, web page preparations, and preparation of event and conference materials, agendas, and minutes.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position.

Demonstrated successful experience in working with multiple diverse group and individuals, preferable at the higher education level. Must be adaptable and flexible; have strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, organizational and conflict resolution skill; strong computer skills, knowledge of accounting principles, university procedures and the organization, policies, and regulations of the University of Alaska. A high degree of confidentiality and tact is an absolute requirement for the position as are highly developed interpersonal communication skills.

Typical education or training required for this position (including licenses).

A high school diploma, at least three years' experience in an administrative assistant, coordinator position with demonstrated computer skills are required.

Length of time and type of experience required for this position.

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, advanced writing, editing, and desktop publishing experience using Dreamweaver and Roxen; Microsoft Word and Excel, database experience using Filemaker Pro and/or Access, knowledge of how to maintain web servers, desktop and laptop computers. Basic supervisory skills, good interpersonal communication skills and a high degree of confidentiality are required.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities for this position.

Some college work preferred in areas such jouralism, with an emphasis on web and/or computer science.

Records

Duty:
Assists the Executive Officer in carrying out the mission of the System Governance Office which is to provide information to the faculty, staff and student governance leaders and members and facilitate communications so that goveranance members can provide meaningful input to the President of the University and the Board of Regents and carry out their other governance responsibilities in accordance with Regents' Policy 03.01.01.

Provides Primary staff support to the Staff Alliance and Statewide Administration Assembly and incidental support to the Coalition of Student Leaders and Faculty Alliance, and System Governance Council. Coordinates governance meetings, events and conferences, including scheduling, site selection, web page preparation, preparation of event and conference materials, agendas and minutes; and prepares, assists in preparation of, or oversees preparation of newsletters and other governance publications.

Maintains department budgets, prepares management reports, does purchasing and travel; has signature authority for expenses up to $500.
