Supervises and coordinates the work of other LPN’s and sub-professional health care aides during an assigned shift. Performs professional nursing care under the direction of physician, ARNP or RN.Coordinates and assigns work of LPN’s, Sub-professionals and Health Care Aides. Makes nursing rounds to assure resident needs are being met as well as unit assignments are completed. Assists staff as needed. Monitors performance of other LPN’s, Sub-Professionals and Health Care Aides. Ed. And Counsels as needed. Disciplines as directed. Participates in evaluation process including interim evaluations and goals. Performs assessments of residents as needed. Notifies MD and RP of any change in resident’s condition. Prepares, administers and documents oral and intramuscular medication. Initiates and maintains intravenous therapy. Performs medical treatments such as dressing changes, catheter irrigations, wound care, enema, first aide treatment and application of assistive devices. In-services staff of P & P changes as directed. In-services staff of resident care plan changes as needed. |

Characteristics of the Class :
Supervises and/or coordinates the work of other Licensed Practical Nurses and/or sub-professional health care aides during an assigned shift or on a treatment unit and performs professional nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed physician; and performs other duties as required.
Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements :
Work is typically performed in an office setting. Will also periodically administer medication to patients and monitor patient behavior.
