We seek an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Associate to join the team working at the University of Florida on a project funded by the NIH . Cell-based microarrays are being fabricated as a high-throughput method to screen in vitro, immuno-modulatory microparticles. The goal is to identify microparticle formulations able to shift the phenotype of the key immune cell type, dendritic cells, toward the ability to induce regulatory T-cells. In addition to identifying effective immuno-modulatory microparticle formulations, this approach has potential to uncover fundamentals of dendritic cell induction of regulatory T-cells. Therapeutic applications which would benefit from induction of specific tolerance include the amelioration of autoimmune diseases, transplant science and tissue engineering.
Highly motivated applicants with a Ph.D. in engineering, materials science or a basic science are encouraged to apply. Relevant experience in cell-based microarrays, biomaterials, and/or immunology is preferred. Applicants should have a strong experimental background and publication record, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ph.D. in the appropriate area of specialization.
