Job Description

As a Senior Systems Engineer in the Technical Operations Engineering organization, our candidate will join the Source Control Management team. This team is responsible for a robust, secure, scalable and high performing global source control management and distribution system and firmly embraces the DevOps model. For the Systems Engineer this includes capacity planning ( CPU, Memory, IO ), patching & maintenance, configuration management and automation.

As a DevOps-focused team, we write our own automation and operate our own systems. We are looking for an individual who can function in both roles.

Responsibilities:
·

Design, deliver and support hardware systems for Perforce and GitHub applications.

·

Manage the end-to-end infrastructure configuration, deployment and management by partnering with datacenter, network and storage engineering.

·

Generate BOMs and patch plans for new hardware installs.

·

Ensure all processes are fully automated, documented and rolled into a global support framework.

·

Formulate and implement monitoring strategy with clear policies and procedures blurring lines betwe

en infrastructure components and recognizing the service as a singular entity

·

Drive continuous improvement for the infrastructure with metrics-based analysis.

·

Evangelize new technologies, performance test hardware and configurations.

·

Willingness to do on-call support.

Required Skills

·

5-7 years Linux Administration experience, 2+ years in a high-performance environment.

·

Demonstrated understanding of Linux internals, performance tuning and high availability

·

Experience with either Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. Oracle preferred.

·

Working knowledge of standard infrastructure tools such as DHCP, DNS, NTP, SYSLOG, SSH, IPSec, SSL, SNMP, XFS, EXT, Jumpstart

·

2-3 years experience with a monitoring framework: Nagios, Cacti, Zabbix, Zenoss

·

Excellent communication skills: oral and written.

Desired:
·

Experience with SAN storage and virtualization highly preferred

·

1-2 years with Puppet, Chef or CFEngine ( Puppet preferred )

·

Experience with load balancers, switches and related configurations

·

Strong scripting/automation skills in Perl, Python or Java
