Operates and maintains equipment safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Assists physician in carrying out procedures which require aseptic techniques observing standard precautions.
Safely transports cart to different areas of facility as needed; prepares patient for exam or procedure and assists physician.
Diligently observes patient, recognizes changes in condition and promptly seeks appropriate assistance.
MAINTAINS A CLEAN AND SERVICEABLE WORK ENVIRONMENT TO ENHANCE PATIENT CARE.
Thoroughly cleans assigned room daily.
Maintains an adequate inventory of equipment and supplies for assigned area and places general and special supply orders from purchasing in a timely manner.

ALLERGY:

Prepares and mixes vaccine for each patient following established policies and procedures.
Performs routine allergy testing, nasal smears, sputum slices, and specialty testing such as insects, canines, penicillin, as ordered by physician.
Properly administers injections, therapeutic and medical, and charts necessary information in patient records.
Accurately determines whether patients are having local or synthetic reactions and refers problems to physician as necessary.
Accurately prepares, reads, and records pollen slides daily.
ASSISTS IN THE MAINTENANCE OF AN ORDERLY, CLEAN AND SERVICEABLE WORK ENVIRONMENT TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE SMOOTH FUNCTIONING OF THE LAB.
Assists in monitoring, ordering and maintaining adequate supplies.
Accurately boxes, mails and logs vaccines daily.
Performs daily accurate counts of various activities within the lab, including shots, CD's, nasal smears and mail out.
CASTS:
APPLIES AND REMOVES CASTS, SPLINTS AND ORTHOPEDIC APPLIANCES TO PROVIDE PATIENT CARE.
Demonstrates the technical skills necessary to consistently apply casts, splints and orthopedic appliances properly and with the appropriate level of comfort and fit for the patient.
Routinely observes and records the condition of the patient and notifies appropriate personnel if observations deviate from normal expectations.
COMMUNICATES EFFECTIVELY WITH PATIENT ABOUT THE PROCESS AND MAINTENANCE OF THE PROCEDURE TO BE DONE TO PROVIDE REASSURANCE AND EDUCATION.
Clearly explains the procedure to each patient before starting so that the patient will feel comfortable with the process.
Routinely screens patient telephone calls to accurately determine patient's needs.
DENTAL:
PROVIDES DENTAL LABORATORY SUPPORT TO AID IN THE DELIVERY OF QUALITY DENTAL CARE.
Pours preliminary and final impressions in all areas of pediatric, orthodontic, oral surgery and removable prosthetics in accordance with established procedures.
Pours, pins and bases working models for crown and bridge cases in accordance with established procedures.
Articulates casts on plain line and semi-adjustable articulators to include the Hannau and Whip-Mix articulators in accordance with established procedures.
EKG:
PARTICIPATES IN THE TRAINING OF JUNIOR PERSONNEL TO ASSIST THEIR DEVELOPMENTAL EFFORTS.
Instructs and trains new personnel in the proper use of equipment and testing protocols in a professional manner.
Mentors junior techs in the proper procedures of arrhythmia recognition to ensure their use of safe testing methods.
COMPLETES ALL NECESSARY STEPS TO ACQUIRE AND PROCESS ELECTROCARDIOGRAMS.
Reviews medical record and documentation before each stress test to ensure department standards for safety and appropriate procedure have been met.
Utilizes all equipment associated with EKG procedures properly and records the necessary information accurately to obtain high quality results.
Monitors vital signs as well as recording EKG data during study to ensure safety of patient; recognizes life threatening arrhythmias and notifies physician of abnormal results.
Participates as part of diagnostic team, when working with other departments, to provide ancillary cardiac testing services.
Performs Holter Monitor hookups using established procedures, scans tapes and prints results for the physician's interpretation.
PERFORMS BASIC FUNCTIONS ON MUSE EKG DATABASE SYSTEM.
Downloads EKG's accurately for proper storage and retrieval; performs retrievals, editing and backups as necessary to maintain the integrity of the data.
Prints record and attaches proper documentation to tracing for all billing transactions.
Performs retrieval and report distribution tasks quickly and efficiently.
Inputs patient demographic and test data into computerized EKG machine accurately and in a timely manner.
Performs regular data backup and routine problem solving on the system.
GI:
ASSISTS WITH TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF ALL CASES, INCLUDING ADVANCED GI CASES.
Assists with complex biopsies, snares, clips, and specimen retrieval.
Prepares slides for lab analysis
Along with nurse, makes sure specimen containers are labeled correctly and are sent to front desk pick-up area.
Responsible for EUS and FNA procedure set-up
SCOPE CARE
Assures that scopes are manually cleaned, leak tested, and put in washer for decontamination.
Removes scopes from washer in a timely manner and assures that they are hung properly in scope closet.
Removes any scope from service that does not pass leak test and prepares scope for shipping to have repaired.
Schedules and instructs patients regarding test procedures, what to expect, and how to maintain recorder and diary.
Calibrates equipment prior to performing test. Assist physicians when interpreting test results.
Retrieves pH recorder from patient when returned to clinic and downloads recorder information on pH computer.
Notifies physician when info is downloaded and ready to be read.
Assures that all results are interpreted in a timely manner & that final results are sent to patients.
RESPONSIBLE FOR M2A TESTING
Schedules patients for M2A capsule procedure.
Instructs patients on how to prepare for the procedure, what to expect, and how to maintain recorder.
Retrieves M2A recorder from patient when returned to clinic and downloads recorder information on M2A computer.
Notifies physician when info is downloaded and ready to be read.
Assures that all results are interpreted in a timely manner & that final results are sent to patients.
RESPONSIBLE FOR HYDROGEN/LACTOSE BREATH TESTING
Schedules and instructs patients prior to testing.
Calibrates equipment prior to use.
Performs test and assists doctor when interpreting test results.

Adapts methods for instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observation and EEG findings.
Ensures that observations and outcomes of studies meet or exceed the expectation of the Neurologists.
Accurately summarizes patient neurologic status and clinical history from chart, patient or other persons.
Explains recording procedure to patient/family members in a professional manner.
PERFORMS ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THE EFFICIENT FUNCTIONING OF THE WORK AREA.
Assists with the scheduling of patients and maintains call schedule in a timely manner.
Reports procedure counts and billing reliably and accurately.
Updates all materials regarding emergency and fire plans, infectious control plans and age specific materials annually and/or as assigned in a professional manner.
ASSISTS IN THE MAINTENANCE OF EQUIPMENT FOR THE WORK AREA TO ENSURE CONTINUITY OF SERVICE.
Cleans equipment regularly and maintains equipment in good operating condition.
Performs minor maintenance/repair of lab equipment as needed and promptly reports the need for major repair to the appropriate party.

RADIATION:
CONTRIBUTES TO THE DELIVERY OF QUALITY PATIENT CARE
Creates custom blocks for shaping applied radiation fields as determined by the Radiation Oncologist: includes cutting Styrofoam molds from marked simulator films or DRR's, casting the blocks with Cerrobend, precisely mounting blocks to trays that are mounted on the linear accelerator
Creates custom MLC patterns for shaping applied radiation fields as determined by the Radiation Oncologist: including digitizing marked simulator films or DRR's, creation of transfer files, and loading of files on MLC controller of the linear accellerator.
Creates custom electron blocks for linear accelerator comes to shape the electron fields as determined by the Radiation Oncologist.
Creates transmission blocks to reduce dose to specific organs.
Creates special purpose treatment aides and source shields designed by Radiation Oncology Physicist.
ENSURES NECESSARY INVENTORY IS AVAILABLE.
Responsible for keeping mold room stocked with all the materials needed for block construction so patients can be treated in a timely fashion.
Inventories incoming radioactive seeds, loads seeds into Mick cartridges and/or seeding needles, takes shielded cartridges and/or needles to be steralized.
Returns unused seeds to storage and updates inventory log sheets.
RADIOLOGY:
PARTICIPATES IN PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES BY ASSISTING IN THE PREPARATION, ASSESSMENT, AND ADMINISTRATION OF CARE TO RADIOLOGY PATIENTS.
Assembles IV setups using appropriate aseptic techniques.
Uses proper IV skills to begin IV setups for assigned patient.
In a courteous and professional manner, assists technologists in the correct performance of basic patient monitoring such as blood pressure checks, IV monitoring, ECG monitoring, and patient comfort.
As necessary, assists technologists and nurses with moving patients around the department in a safe and courteous manner.
PARTICIPATES IN EDUCATION AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES OF THE DIVISION.
Avails self of learning opportunities provided through in-service programs and properly documents attendance.
Provides necessary patient paperwork to appropriate areas for completion of patient studies and accurately follows study protocol.
Have a current Non-Certified Technicians (NCT) License from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Completed first year of an accredited Radiology Program.
Be presently enrolled or in good standing in an accredited Radiology program.
PERFORMS OTHER POSITION APPROPRIATE DUTIES AS REQUIRED IN A COMPETENT, PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS MANNER.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY:
A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) may include specialized or vocational courses.
Certification for related field in specialty area or related experience preferred.
Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
