High School/GED
  • Responsible for reviewing patient records and identifying and entering charges on-line for all Emergency Center and Clinical Decision Unit hospital services. Responsible for using the approved review matrix to accurately assign E&M (Emergency & Medical) levels and for identifying all procedures billable under the approved Charge Description Master (CDM). Tracks all charts processed for these hospital services and submits charts to medical records within the identified time frame.

    Edu:
    Two years college course work in a medically related discipline or equivalent work experience in order to gain knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, familiarity with medications, abbreviations, emergency procedures, charges for procedures.

    Edu:
    Associate level degree in a medically related discipline preferred.

    Edu:
    Completion of Patient Management Registration Course with 85% grade on final exam prior to receiving access code. Must successfully complete within 30 days of hire.

    Exper:
    Six months work experience in acute medical services insurance billing area in order to gain knowledge of third party payers. (see Minimum Licensure Section)

    Exper:
    Minimum of two years experience in a hospital emergency department or hospital based EMS, preferred.

    Lic/Cert:
    Certification or licensure in a healthcare discipline (ex: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist), within one year of employment as Charge Capture Analyst.

    Skill:
    Ability to operate general office equipment (ie. calculator, fax machine, copy machine.

    Skill:
    Ability to keyboard and type a minimum of 25 corrected wpm.

    Skill:
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with automated systems (PM, HART, FirstNet and CIS) preferred.

    Skill:
    Good interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively and diverse patient and Hospital populations. Ability to recognize and prioritize people in stressful situations.

    Skill:
    Ability to concentrate and display attention to detail for extended periods of time with good time management skills.
