MLB Advanced Media is seeking a part-time encoding specialist to assist in producing a high volume of sporting events. This position would require candidates to have a flexible schedule as most events take place on nights and weekends.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Management of video and audio web encoding platforms into Flash, Windows Media, http encapsulation, and various mobile formats
  • Primary relationship management/support with web encoding and transcoding vendor
  • Primary troubleshooting of encoding platforms
  • Tier 3 level operational support of video and audio web encoding
  • Training and dissemination of encoding protocols/procedures to primary operational staff
Required Skills:
  • Video encoding expertise
  • Knowledge of video codecs and compression, specifically H.264
  • Knowledge of IP protocols
  • Experience working in mid-size to large data centers
  • Understanding of Windows services, registry, and application structure
  • Understanding of RTMP, RTSP, WMV/WMA, Shoutcast, http delivery architectures
  • Understanding of media formats on mobile devices
  • Basic understanding of UNIX
  • Strong host/configuration management skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Understanding of Smooth/IIS
  • Understanding of JMS architecture
  • Knowledge of batch scripting in Windows
  • Experience working with Cisco Media Processing solutions sets (formerly Spinnaker Live Streaming) and Cisco Transcode Manager Workflow Management, etc (formerly Inlet Armada.)
  • Experience working with Elemental Live and Elemental Server
  • Night and weekend availability is a requirement
