Process all submittals and specimens for testing in a timely and accurate manner.

This is a

temporary part-time

3rd shift position, averaging 16 hours/wk. The hours Monday-Friday are 11:00pm-7:30am and Saturday, between 7:30pm-4:00am.

PRIMARY DUTIES

AND

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Check-in drivers/courier packages:
·

Remove specimens from bag/bundle

·

Label/number slides and specimens and submittals according to department standards

·

Enter all required specimen testing information into computer tracking system

·

Make necessary copies of submittals

·

Match test slips with appropriate incoming specimens

·

Split off specimens for multiple testing, and prepare original tubes for centrifuge

·

Accurately rack or bundle specimens for delivery to each testing department

·

Retrieve and prepare add-ons and rechecks

·

·

Build computer worklists for each testing department

·

Verify accuracy of all specimen data entered into computer each shift

·

·

Verify pending tests are on "pending" list and split-offs are in appropriate racks

·

Timely and accurately process specimens during each shift

·

Read, understand, and follow all applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs)

·

Assist lab personnel with specimen storage

·

Assist lab personnel to ensure turnaround times (TATs) are met

·

Maintain clean and organized processing area

·

Notify supervisor or coordinator of any problems or discrepancies

·

Understand and follow IDEXX laboratory safety procedures

·

Basic understanding and following concepts of Lean and 5S

·

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:
·

Data entry skills required

·

Some laboratory experience preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS

AND

ABILITIES:
·

Knowledge of GCP guidelines as appropriate

·

Comprehend and execute basic directions

·

Good oral and written communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This job classification requires that the applicant be capable of standing continuously for up to 2 hours, sitting, lifting up to 40 pounds, carrying up to 40 pounds, reaching, speaking, seeing, and hearing. This job classification also involves repetitive use of the hands, wrists, and arms. Applicants must be able to meet the minimum dexterity requirements of the position.

WORK

ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves a potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29

CFR
