Four year college degree, or equivalent work experience, with three to five years experience in systems or administration of individual life and annuity contracts

A general understanding of individual life and annuity contracts, marketing philosophies, policy administration and the insurance industry

Good systems analysis and acceptance testing skills

A general understanding of technologies and their application within the insurance industry

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Contribute to an effective and efficient Individual Division Systems Area by functioning as a systems and business analyst supporting the distribution and administration of individual life and annuity contracts for multiple companies.
This position provides system analysis and acceptance testing for individual life and annuity contracts. This includes system development and implementation for new products and product changes, support of processing from application receipt through payment of death claim, system maintenance and system upgrades.

With direct guidance from a senior member of the Individual Systems Support Area, the incumbent is expected to review, interpret and translate work requests, policy contracts, administrative memos, product prospectus’, field compensation contracts, regulatory requirements and systems documentation to determine how the business requirements can be addressed through current systems and procedures, plan file record and table development, modifications to systems and procedures, or development of new systems and procedures.

The incumbent will develop detailed business requirements for changes to systems and procedures, and conduct walk-thru’s with BSA’s, administrative associates, technical support staff, consultants, and vendors, to ensure that business requirements are properly identified and translated into detail program specifications. When business requirements result in procedural changes, the incumbent works with BSA’s and administrative management to ensure that the changes are properly understood, documented and implemented.

The incumbent will develop and execute detailed acceptance test matrices to ensure that system enhancements address business requirements, without adversely impacting other processing. This includes the use of automated testing tools as available.

Under the guidance of a senior member of the Individual Systems Support Area, the incumbent will interact with the BSA’s, administrative areas, IS, consultants and vendors. Translating business needs into system solutions, representing the administrative and systems perspective in discussions and ensuring that timely and effective communication between the areas.

The incumbent will also support Individual Line initiatives through product description file, plan file table and policy page/annual report coding. A general understanding of our insurance products and policy related calculations as administered through our individual insurance systems is necessary. Under the guidance of a senior member of the Individual Systems Support Area, the incumbent, during the design and structure of new products, will analyze requested and potential product features, test such features and communicate to their ISS manager base system processing for these features and/or needed system modifications to support such features.

The incumbent will work with a senior member of the Individual Systems Support Area to develop effort estimates and organize tasks during annual and quarterly planning.

The incumbent may provide direction, as necessary to less experienced staff and when management is unavailable.
