FFRD Systems SW Architect
Job Description: In this position you will serve as the systems SW architect for a given generation of our Detachable Form Factor Reference Design (FFRD) systems. In the planning stage, you will participate in a multidisciplinary team to help identify key opportunities and usages for target customers of the system and deliver concept proposals to feed into an MRD and POPs. You will contribute to usages, derive detailed scenarios and requirements, analyze solution options and feasibility of concepts, and define required SW/FW solutions and architectures. You will provide feedback on MRDs and own the delivery of any required SW PRDs/SASs. You may engage internal partners such as our CPU, chipset, Wireless, BIOS/EC, and planning personnel, to understand future roadmaps and technologies and to ensure required ingredients and components are comprehended and included in roadmaps. You will define and lead other team members and internal partners to deliver any required early prototypes as needed to further confirm feasibility. During the execution phase you will work closely with the SW engineering team to ensure successful integration and validation of SW/FW components and ingredients into a system, working with internal/external partners and aligned with system delivery schedules. You need to be located in Hillsboro, Oregon for this position to be able to collaborate effectively and work closely on a daily basis with all members of the FFRD group.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the PC industry.
Additional qualifications include:
- 8 years of experience with Windows-based PCs and have an in-depth understanding of the PC platform architecture spanning application SW, drivers, FW, and HW components.
- 8+ years of experience pathfinding, prototyping, and delivering product architectures and solutions spanning SW, drivers, and FW that touch the platform HW.
- 1+ year of experience with Win8 SW environment for desktop and metro applications and system SW.
- 8+ years of experience working with cross functional teams
- 5+ years of experience leading team members, and setting direction and expectations
Masters degree in applicable Engineering discipline
8+ years of experience working with internal partners in CPU, chipset, other ingredients, and planning groups to understand and influence roadmaps.
