  • This position is located onsite in Dubuque, IA., no remote work is available.

    IBM's Technical Services Delivery Center in downtown Dubuque, Iowa, is seeking Technical Support Specialists responsible for creating application installation packages or image build requests based on customer requirements. Packager will also be responsible for wrapping applications for delivery through the customers software distribution infrastructure or embedded within the customers desktop image. The Image Builder gathers all requirements, drivers, and installation packages, and creates the image for the required hardware platforms using standard toolsets and processes. The Image Builder validates that each image meets the customer supplied requirements and internal quality guidelines. Problems are not routine or standardized and the creation of documentation explaining the solution to the problem is required. Candidate will be responsible for implementing changes to the client’s environment.

    Incumbent will support application packaging problems and issues for the client desktop environment. These tasks are not standardized and require independent thought and problem solving to resolve. Interaction with other teams is often required to solve issues.

    Individual will support image building problems and issues for the client desktop environment. These tasks are not standardized and require independent thought and problem solving to resolve. Interaction with other teams is often required to solve issues.

    Candidate will work to standardize repeatable tasks and steps across multiple accounts within a pool while providing coaching and mentoring to the more junior team members. This may require creating documentation or scripts that can be used to solve the same problem in the future.

    Team members participate once or more daily in cadence discussion on team performance. These meetings are typically led by the primary pool manager or Dispatcher. They discuss issues or challenges, and receive trouble-shooting input /advice from other team members. They may also discuss team performance trends. Primary pool team members may also separately interact and exchange information with members of cross-pool teams.

    Remote work is not available. Pager coverage and possible offshift coverage would be required.

    Required
    • At least 1 year experience in using industry standard software packaging tools (Installshield or Wise Packaging Studio) or Imaging tools (Symantec Ghost, Microsoft ImageX)
    • English: Fluent

    Preferred
    • Associate's Degree/College Diploma in Information Technology
    • At least 3 years experience in using industry standard software packaging tools (Installshield or Wise Packaging Studio) or Imaging tools (Symantec Ghost, Microsoft ImageX)
    • At least 1 year experience in programming languages and standard operating systems
    • Basic knowledge in LEAN methodologies
    • Basic knowledge in Maximo tool
    • Basic knowledge in VBS, Jscript or ISScript
    • At least 3 years experience in MSI and MSTs
    • At least 1 year experience in troubleshooting, image testing and regressive testing techniques
    • At least 1 year experience in SQL database data input
