Manage the day-to-day operations of the Individual Life and Variable Life New Business Teams. Is responsible for the quality, federal and state compliance, and timeliness of the new business and its associated service functions. Does budget preparation and manages costs. Provides leadership to implement our corporate strategies.

Titles of those reporting directly to this position: Team Leader, Individual Client Services; New Business Representative; Senior New Business Representative

Essential Functions:
Supervise and evaluate the workflow and personnel of the division. Measure productivity and performance, and manage the process to meet our objectives. Provide feedback, counseling, training or disciplinary action as needed to improve performance or to correct deficient performance. Performs Performance Appraisals annually and semi-annually for staff. Establishes and monitors bonus criteria for staff.

Monitor the workflow and procedures of the Division to ensure prompt, accurate, efficient and cost effective service to our customers, the Field Force, and other Home Office Departments. Analyze workflow and procedures for possible cost savings and improvement in issuance of policies. Work with other departments on new products, sales campaigns and other initiatives to ensure that use of our resources and technology is effective and efficient, and that we have a smooth introduction to our customers and field force.

Acquire a thorough knowledge of all individual life and variable life products as well as systems associated with the overall Division responsibilities. Resolve conflicts as they arise.

Communicate, written and verbal, with Customers, Agents, Agency Managers, and Agency Personnel to provide information, expedite processing of business, explain procedures, solve problems and, as needed, develop and initiate new procedures to accomplish division and department service standards.

Monitors suspense accounts used by the Individual Life New Business Department to ensure accurate and timely processing of customer funds.

Reviews and monitor replacement procedures to ensure compliance with state regulations and timely service.

Develop annual division budget. Manage unit to achieve results within budget. Provide feedback to Department Head on budget items related to the Unit’s responsibilities. Develop new procedures and methods as needed to control costs associated with overall Division or Department responsibilities.

Analyze systems used in processing of new business to determine current needs and formulate ideas on modifications to improve processing. Document solutions and work with appropriate individuals to resolve problems or initiate new enhancements.

Assume responsibility for special projects and participate on teams within the company to achieve established department and corporate goals.

Marginal Functions:
Handles any additional responsibilities and/or projects as requested by Department Head.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Travel required.
