To provide data services to all UA development and fundraising operations
Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position.
Relational database and development skills; advanced computer skills for sophisticated, complex software programs; ability to exercise critical discretion and confidentiality; research methodology and data manipulation and interpretation; Report preparations; data entry with attention to detail; knowledge of available resources; research skills with ability to apply results to fund-raising principles and strategies; internet navigation; advanced word processing and spreadsheet knowledge. General knowledge of automated systems maintenance and design using a variety of software tools and/or programming languages. Knowledge of operating systems and experience installing complex softwares. Ability to troubleshoot user side programs in multiple configurations and platforms. Ability to train and evaluate users on various softwares and their particular use in the fundraising industry. Ability to solve a variety of complex problems related to computer operations systems including diagnosing problems with applications, software and hardware. Knowledge of best security practices in computing.
Typical education or training required for this position (including licenses).
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management or equivalent combination of experience including database theory, advanced computer usage, diagnostic techniques, functions of information systems. Experience may substitute for some of the education requirement. Specialized knowledge information management and/or information systems is necessary for detailed analysis and interpretation of technical problems.
Length of time and type of experience required for this position.
2 to 3 years of progressive, high level experience working with Blackbaud's Raisers Edge. The applicant must have experience and theoretical knowledge of computer systems and applications, database design, and systems functionality. Experience in training users on various softwares and processes is required.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities for this position.
Work experience in a fund-raising environment is highly preferred.

--Creates, updates, corrects constituent data in Raisers Edge. Identifies errors during data entry. Researches for updates and checks for data integrity. Resolves all conflicts, discrepancies, and errors. Identifies duplicates, incomplete records, and needed records. Resolves all problems. Adheres to Red Flags rules, Payment Card Industry, and other general industry-standard security practices.
--Responsible for reviewing data entry and inputs in Raisers Edge and notifies users when procedures have not been followed. Provides assistance in implementing changes. Designs and develops specifications for database entry.
--Designs, develops and tests "ad hoc" databases and entry applications in MS Access, FileMaker Pro, SQL, Visual Studio, Crystal Reports and other relational database tools to support and/or compliment Raisers Edge. Programs tools to automate data-entry across numerous applications. Maintain user-oriented applications and interfaces for data entry.
--Receives updates to confidential constituent information from internal and external sources. Processes updates in Raisers Edge using a variety of methods including manual data entry, programmed and automated entry.
--Designs templates in Raisers Edge for global adds, changes, updates and deletions.
--Using a variety of methods, extracts data from Raisers Edge and other data sources to meet users needs and requests for information.
--Performs advanced operations in Raisers Edge including batch processes, queries, and extracts.
--Serves as backup to Senior Data Analyst for running automated processes, performing queries, building complex data extracts. Resolves problems with these duties.
Data Administration, Integrity and Planning
--Supports Senior Data Analyst and Systems and Applications Administrator. Coordinates with supervisor to establish security measures, procedures, and settings against unauthorized use. Jointly plans for disaster recovery of lost information with Senior Data Analyst and Systems Administrator and Applications Administrator.
--Identify, research and analyze problems associated with data in Raisers Edge. Identifies conflicts with other university databases (e.g. Banner, EDIR). Makes or reports corrections needed. Explains to other data stakeholders importance of consistency.
-- Review database modifications with the Senior Data Analyst to ensure modifications follow written policies and procedures
-- Act as primary contact for management of constituency lists including boards, individuals, and corporations.
-- Regular coordination with Senior Data Analyst and other Constituent Data Analysts on issues of data integrity, maintenance and planning
-- Regular coordination with UAF and SW campus staff to determine best strategies involving data use and planning
-- Coordinate and implement policies and procedures with Foundation staff and campus staff
--Implements and enforces security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure. Monitors data uses.
Monitor industry innovations
-- Monitor industry communications for important developments in BB products, related practices and philanthropy. Serves as expert advisor for innovative approaches and new technologies.
Training and Support
-- Coordinate RE training programs with Senior Data Analyst. Develops, writes, and edits computing-related technical and administrative documentation and publications.
-- Provide training to all RE users at UAF and SW in general use, querying, exporting, reports, dashboards and specific requests. Explains relationships of data tables and complexity of querying language.
--Performs training of InfoView reporting tool, demonstrating access to over 100 canned reports and hundreds of reporting permutations.
--Performs training of PaperSave document archiving tool for digitizing documents to Raisers Edge.
--Performs training of Red Flags Security rules to minimize occurrences of identity theft as a result of bad data use practices. Includes training on Payment Card Industry (PCI) rules for proper usage and entry of credit card transactions.
--Performs installation, configuration and maintenance of Raisers Edge, Infoview and other Foundation softwares on user workstations. Diagnoses and resolves problems with software and hardware on Mac and PC platforms and Citrix Client-Server Programs
--Maintains equipment functionality and resolves or redirects problems as needed to OIT (desktop stations, mobile equipment, printers, scanners, etc.)
--Confers with and trains users for additional service needs as requested. Coordinates with OIT and other departments to insure smooth use of Foundation softwares
--Performs highly technical responsible work in providing computer services and office automation support related to: implementing and maintaining personal computer systems, staff workstations, automation equipment and devices. Diagnoses and resolves technical problems with applications and software, staff workstations, office automation equipment and related devices.
Online data/info services
-- Provide content and maintenance for online info services: web, online giving, calendar coordination. Acts as department liaison to OIT for joint troubleshooting and resolving of problems.
