US Army Veterinary Services operates as a subsidiary of Public Health Command. Their mission is to provide military veterinary services in support of United States Army Medical Command and Department of Defense missions. The civilian function of the Veterinary Services is a supplemental mission which exists to assist soldiers and their families in the field of animal health and care.
This is a Flexible (guarantees 00) hours per week, at the Boller, Veterinary Treatment Facility. VMO (Veterinary Medical Officer) will be working in a dog and cat US Army Veterinary Treatment Facility. VMO will be performing sick call on a regular basis and performing surgery and dental procedures at least 2 times per month. VMO may examine military working dogs only if VCO is not available. Boller Veterinary Treatment Facility currently provides full laboratory services with advanced test sent to Antech Diagnostics, surgical services including orthopedics, radiology services, ultrasound services, and dental services. VMO is expected to work 3 days a week from 0830 until 1600. Practice currently consists of 1 DVM and 5 support staff.
Please Note: Salary is pro-rated for 40 hours per week. Pay will depend on actual hours worked. Hourly salary is $32.58 to $40.00.

Performs professional veterinary work that involves the investigation, examination, treatment, and control of animals. Diagnoses animal health problems; vaccinates against diseases, such as distemper and rabies; medicates animals suffering from infections or illnesses; treats and dresses wounds, seat fractures; performs surgery; and advise owners about animal feeding, behavior, and breeding. Issues health certificates. Performs and interprets laboratory findings. Maintains health records and prepares reports as necessary.
Possess a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), obtained at a school or college of veterinary medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA). Must be licensed within the United States to practice veterinary medicine and be accredited to issue health certificates (i.e. USDA license).
