The Town of Gilbert is currently seeking enthusiastic, self-starters who are looking to share their recreation talents with the community, as recreation instructors. Recreation instructors plan, schedule and conduct classes in assigned program areas such as, arts and crafts, dance, sports, fitness, and personal development classes which are offered for all ages. Hours for this position vary widely. Typically an instructor will teach approximately five to ten hours per week during each ten week session, depending on the course being taught.

Ideal candidates for these positions will have a passion for sharing their interests with others, and will be skilled at teaching in a structured, but fun recreation environment. Requirements for the position include one year of formal teaching experience. Experience teaching programs to one or more of the following populations is preferred: early childhood, youth, teens, adults, older active adults and special needs. All instructors are asked to make a minimum of an 8-12 week teaching commitment once hired. Current CPR and First Aid certification are preferred, but not required.

Supplemental Information:
For Early Childhood classes: Ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of early childhood education credits or infant/toddler recreation teaching experience.
For Dance/Movement/Gymnastics classes: Ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year previous experience teaching dance, gymnastics or creative movement in a formal teaching environment.
For Fitness classes: Ideal candidate will have a current national fitness certification or related group fitness teaching experience (Personal trainers are not needed at this time).

Special note: starting pay for these positions is $14.72 per hour.
