This field engineering position requires an array of technical competencies and personality traits that enable one to respond effectively to rapidly changing circumstances and adverse conditions.
It requires skills in hardware and software maintenance. This is a “hands-on” Contractor Maintenance Personnel position that requires expertise in the use of hand tools, support and test equipment commonly found in a military flight-line environment.
This is a Mission Essential (ME) position. The individual selected must be qualified to support Global Hawk (GH) operations under adverse conditions and impending or active hostilities. In addition, the position may be tasked to support a USAF worldwide deployable program so the individual selected must be able and ready to deploy worldwide at a moment’s notice.
Perform and monitor the preventative maintenance on RQ-4 GH Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) Enhanced Integrated Sensor Suite (EISS) to resolve technical problems and issues, determine technical solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications and technical data, and recommend actions concerning the repair of sensors.
The individual selected must be able to perform the following tasks: integration and test of new hardware, updating of software and/or database builds, installation, removal, checking out, operating, maintaining, inspection, repairing, and modification of sensor systems equipment.
Analyze equipment failures of the EISS and related architecture to determine cause and recommend/perform repair action. Implement preventive maintenance programs and keep performance and maintenance records.
Employment is contingent on meeting all medical requirements for overseas assignment including comprehensive post-offer medical examination.
4+ years of experience that includes:
Oversee the troubleshooting of configuration and/or system problems.
Work under general direction, planning own task schedule.
Excellent communication skills necessary for problem resolution with customer, contractors and vendors.
Experience interacting with senior external personnel on significant technical matters, often requiring coordination between organizations.
Working knowledge of UNIX (Solaris) and Windows configuration and systems administration.
Electro-optical, Infra-Red, RF hardware engineering/maintenance experience and/or hardware/software/system administration experience.
Ability to work in a military flight line environment.
Integration and Test, or related engineering disciplines with working knowledge of integration and test.
In-depth understanding of system administration in a Solaris 8 or higher environment.
4+ years of hardware/software/system administration experience including ground station support, UNIX, and system administration experience, and Solaris 8 operating system.
Experience with RQ-4 GH ISS and related support equipment.
Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance forms, military equipment accounts, CAMS/IMDS, and flight line procedures.
Support of Discrepancy Reports (DRs), Field Service Action Requests (FSARs), Trouble/Failure Reports (TFRs) and the needs of Site and Contractor Field Service Representatives (CFSRs).
Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical field. May substitute experience in lieu of education. (I.e., Associates Degree plus 8 years of experience or 12 years of experience with no degree.)
Must have a US DoD Secret level clearance.
Rotating shifts may be required -- possible 12 hour shifts 7 days /week.
Able to lift 40 pounds and able to sit for long periods of time.
Willing and able to receive all inoculations, including the Anthrax Vaccine and the Smallpox Vaccine, required by the US military.
Willing to submit to vital health tests prior to deployments
