POSITION: PBS Parents Intern (SUMMER 2013)
DEPARTMENT: PBS Digital – Parents
SALARY: $12.00/hour (undergrads and recents grads) and $15.00/hour (graduate students)
TIME COMMITTMENT : 25-30 hours/week, June 10 – August 9, 2013

INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVE:
Support projects related to the PBS Parents website.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Edit articles
Update content
Assist with research for parenting-related video web series.
Assist with Child Development Tracker redesign.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency working with PC, Microsoft Office suite, Photoshop and WordPress
Familiar with social media channels
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong writing skills a must
Knowledge of child development and/or early childhood education a plus
Digital media experience a plus.

PREFERED EDUCATION/MAJOR/GPA:
Journalism/Communications (with an interest in communicating to parents), Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education major preferred.

OTHER DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/QUALITIES:
Interest in developing educational online resources for children and parents
Creative thinker
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Reliability is a must

SKILLS THE INTERN MIGHT GAIN:
Experience developing and evaluating online resources for parents and caregivers
Experience writing for a parenting audience
Media industry experience
Project management skills
Research experience
