Job Summary: Analyzes the clinical protocol and related documents to prepare a comprehensive document identifying routine and research services and incorporating Medicare coverage rules. Effectively collaborates with multiple researchers in various clinical areas and representatives from ancillary departments to prepare and finalize coverage analysis for clinical trials. Assists with budget development and other activities within the Department. Provides education regarding compliance with clinical trial billing and coding.
Required Education: Bachelor?s Degree. Strong Medical Terminology skills.
Preferred Education: Bachelor?s Degree in Business, Finance, Nursing or a Health Care related field.

Required Experience: 2 or more years of experience demonstrating knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-9 coding, prospective payment and clinical research. Knowledge of medical claims coding practices and clinical processes; strong medical terminology skills; advanced computer skills using spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications; attention to detail; effective communication and organization skills are required.
Preferred Experience: Coding certification and 3 years experience in a research setting with coverage determinations and understanding of research billing regulations.
