Position Title: Exclusive Brands R&D Manager
Reports To: R&D Director, Deploy
Purpose of Role:
This position provides operational leadership for the Exclusive Brands Business (approx $540M business) across all technologies with primary focus on building network scale through dry products. This role provides direction and development for existing and growth product support through effective management of the formulation and package menu concept, leads Do It Best efficiency type projects against agreed targets, and ensures quality design and the synthesis of all aspects of product performance in delivering the consumer proposition and customer requirements. This role serves as a co-pilot to Sales & Marketing through direct engagement with our customers providing Petcare technical leadership. This role engages as a key member of the Exclusive Brands Leadership Team providing technical expertise, resource management, and input to overall business operations and strategy.
Maintains relevancy of the formulation and packaging size menu options
Proactively develops Do it Best efficiency program to achieve annual targets
Develops product design solutions to support growth plans across customers taking into account Mars Petcare network considerations
Provides direction and framework for customer portfolio developments
Responsible for the integration of new capabilities from both Global Technology Platforms and external sources as appropriate
Prioritizes and deploys resources (people and money) to optimize the delivery of the project portfolio.
Provides functional expertise to EB business and directly to our customers
Establishes Standards of Excellence for the team and Best in Class benchmarks to clarify design objectives
Champions Design Quality for Exclusive Brands formulations
Set the Product Quality Standards, and collaborates with the Quality Services Manager in any product dispositions.

6 or more years of increasing leadership responsibility in product / product development
Proven management skills typically acquired through 2 - 4 years of professional experience in leading new product development projects.

Department staffing and promotion
Food Science, engineering, chemistry or equivalent BS degree required, with a strong preference for a higher degree.
