Produces and executes on-air broadcasting. The ideal candidate will have a strong on-air presence as a news anchor, while understanding an excellent news product is the result of a solid team effort. The person who fills this position will assist in producing responsibilities for the early evening newscasts and solo-produce the late newscast. The position requires strong writing skills and the ability to proof the work of others. There will also be a role for the anchor/producer in an on-air capacity in the early evening newscasts for specific segments to present a story in the shows.

The position requires someone who can assist in the management of digital content published on multiple platforms. A working knowledge of social media is expected. Handling pressure in a positive and productive way is essential to success in a newsroom environment. Monitoring police and fire scanner traffic and keeping up with news from various agencies is a core component to this position. The ideal candidate is looking for an opportunity to get their first permanent anchoring position, while possessing a background in producing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Anchor weeknight late newscasts for 11 PM show

Producer role for three evening newscasts

Work with newsteam to put content together for newscasts, including topicals and teases

Post stories to multiple digital platforms that include the station website and social media

Occasionally shooting footage with a tripod for use in stories

Editing footage for use in stories

Composing news stories that gain approval by News Director

Accurately posting all stories and video online and without errors

Help plan and research future stories for use in daily coverage or during sweeps months

Attend daily editorial meeting prepared with three (3) story ideas that may be used in the current day's newscast

Participate in frequent public appearances and community events

Participate in on-call rotation

Strong knowledge of spelling and grammar, ability to to shoot and edit, solid foundation in writing, ability to multi-task and works well under pressure

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to remain in a static position for extended periods of time and converse with and communicate with others. The team member is occasionally required to move about, handle and/or position items. The team member must occasionally transport or move up to 15 pounds. The team member must be able to identify objects and be able to communicate in writing.
